TRI-STATE COLLECTORS' EXHIBITION
SEPT. 26-27, CONCORD COMMUNITY CENTER

A wide variety of interesting exhibits
attracts many people to Tri-State Collec-
tors' Exhibition each year. The bourse
has dealers from a wide area with both
coins and stamps. The 15th annual show is
earlier than usual on account of the NENA
show at Bedford, N.H. However, response
has been very good and an excellent show
is anticipated. Bourse chairman, Leon
Savoy, 20 Holly St., Concord, N.H. has a
few tables available at $25.

There will be wooden nickels at 2 for
25^ and special cachets will show the State
House. The special postal station will
have old stamps for sale at face value.

The many fine trophies including the
Governor's Trophy offer a strong incentive
to enter exhibits. Contact Harold Fear son,
Epsom, Helen Young, or William Upton, Con-
cord, or Louis Bergeron, Franklin for a
brochure listing classes, etc.

ANNIVERSARY MEDAL ISSUES POPULAR FOR N.H.
TOWN CELEBRATIONS

Anniversary medals have been issued by

19 New Hampshire towns in the last two
years, compared to 17 in the previous 4
years as listed in Fall 1968 Nonagon. All
issues included bronze and silver medals.
Several have included gold or gold plated
or both. Belmont had copper also. Quan-
tities struck vary widely from less than
10 gold to 5000 bronze for Concord. Many
factors influence demand, resulting in
some issues selling out quickly and high
prices realized in a short time. Others
hold steady when supply was ample for de-
mand and some remain unsold.

Issue prices were $2 to $3*50 for
bronze, $7.50 to $10.50 for silver, $3 to
$5 for copper or gold plated, and $50 to
$100 for solid gold. Colebrook gold sold
at auction for $90 to $175 each. The last
Harrisville bronze brought $11 at auction,
and #1 silver brought over $100 in one
auction. Low numbers and other special
numbers are often sold at auction at
several dollars over the issue price.

Towns contemplating issue of medals would
do well to discuss quantities, design,
size, and sale practices with Leon Savoy,

20 Holly St., Concord, N.H. who has been
in close touch with results of most of the
issues. Leon Savoy and David Kiley pre-
pared list at right.

WOODEN NICKELS ISSUED

Harrisville issued wooden nickels in
three colors and Colebrook had four dif-
ferent for their celebrations this year,
j The Tri-State Collectors' Exhibition will
have two colors, red and purple, showing
a New Hampshire colonial coin with pine
trde and "American Liberty". The same
design is available in blue, green, and
brown for the N.E.N.A. show. There are
also 200 sets of 5 wooden nickels with the
same design as the N.E.N.A. 1970 medal.

Any of the above are available by writing
Box 391 > Concord, N.H. All for $2 post-
paid. \

DEATH OF MARVIN PERKINS IS BLOW TO

N. H. N. A.

Marvin Perkins, Charter Member #8 of
N.H.N.A. died suddenly June 4 at age of
48. He was an active and enthusiastic
member who designed the official seal for
N.H.N.A. He also designed the medal
issued for the 5th anniversary of N.H.N.A.
and designed one side of the 1970 medal
for the New England Numismatic Associa-
tion. The huge quantity of floral trib-
utes was most impressive, showing the high
esteem in which Mr. Perkins was held by
his many friends. Our sincerest sympathy
is extended to his fine family.
